Here in Ramsbottom we are blessed with a number of eating establishments of note, and The Cultured Bean is one of them. We went for lunch there recently on my husband’s day off and were impressed with the quality of the food and the service. Opting for the same first course we ate some absolutely scrumptious Feta Cheese, Caramelised Onion and Leek Tartlets served with salad, coleslaw, mango chutney and delicious home cooked chips, that tasted like the kind of chips my mum used to make on the hob in a chip pan with a wire basket and lid.

For dessert, my husband ordered some more tartlets but this time made with sweet Madeira, apples, raisins and cinnamon and coated in an orange glaze and served warm with vanilla ice-cream. I ordered some of The Cultured Bean’s award winning Bitter Sweet Chocolate Torte which is made with 70% cocoa solids, dairy butter and free range eggs.  To drink with our desserts my husband had an Americano coffee which he almost always has and I tried a pot of their Dragon Well Organic Green Tea which was very pleasant.

All in all it was a lovely meal and left me especially craving the feta, caramelised onion and leek tartlets; result – it won’t be long before we are back.
